Lara's Place is a lovely family-run guesthouse with beautiful panoramic views over Unawatuana Bay and the Indian Ocean.
Just 15 minutes from the historic town of Galle, Lara's Place is a peaceful and blissful respite, only a few minutes' walk from the beach, yet quiet, private and relaxing.
All year-round, the daytime temperature is about 30 C (85 F), with the evenings and the nights cooling to a comfortable level.

The guesthouse, which is set in a lush tropical garden, has three apartments. On the second floor, two en-suite bedrooms open onto a spacious balcony where you can sit in traditional planter's chairs with your book, watch the fireflies come out at night, and enjoy superb-home cooked Sri Lankan or Western meals made with fresh ingredients purchased that day.
Both apartments have double beds, ceiling fans, a mini-fridge and access to complimentary, fast Wifi. Currently, the bathroom showers only have cold water. We expect to install hot water soon, but many guests have commented that the cool water showers are very refreshing.
Our premier room is the penthouse suite, which has an extensive outdoor entertainment area, a kitchen and dining area, and an en-suite bedroom. The penthouse, which also has access to our complimentary Wifi, has its own private access and probably the best views in Unawatuna. The shower has hot and cold water.
We can organise a return transfer, via private taxi, to Colombo airport at your request. The journey, which follows the new highway, takes approximately two hours.
You can also use our tuk-tuk service to transport you to the surrounding beaches, the historic sights of Galle, take you shopping, and to explore the many other places of interest.
